Sevilla remain in third spot, just two points behind joint leaders Valencia and Villarreal, after a 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. The Basque side have not won in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium since 1993, and even with ex Sevilla coach Joaquín Caparrós in charge they were easy prey once again.

By half time they were two down, Jesús Navas setting up Kanouté for the opening goal midway through the first half, and then crossing in for Renato to make it two. Ion Vélez finally got in a shot for the visitors after the restart, but Maresca and Adriano both brought saves out of Iraizoz before Adriano ran through from midfield to make it three.

Palop was not tested at all until late on when he kept out a cross-come-shot from Susaeta and another effort from Iraola. But with ten minutes to go substitute Chevantón controlled a cross from Konko suspiciously with his arm, and beat the keeper for a fourth time. Another easy win for the Andalusians, and they have now gone eleven games in the league without defeat.
