Numancia moved off the bottom of the table after beating Racing Santander 2-1, their first victory since they beat Barcelona on the opening day. Mario went close for the locals before Barkero put them ahead midway through the first half, beating Toño after the keeper could only push out Antón's cross.

Valera and Navas missed the target and Lacen shot straight at Juan Pablo as the Cantabrians went for the equaliser before the break, and Tchité and Colsa went close after the restart.

The game appeared to be coming to an end though when referee González Vázquez awarded a hotly disputed penalty after Pereira fell under a challenge from Nagore. Tchité converted the spot kick for his first goal in several months.

But a minute later a free kick for the home side ended with the ball falling to Domingo Cisma, who blasted a shot past the keeper to take his side out of the relegation spots, a point now above the Cantabrians who are only out of the bottom three on goal difference.
