Mallorca climbed up the table to eighth spot after beating Espanyol 3-0 in the San Moix stadium. The Catalans had not won there in the last eight years, and Tamudo missed an early chance to give them the lead when he chipped a shot over the bar. Martí tried his luck at the other end, but otherwise chances were few and far between as the two sides went in at the break with the scoreboard unmoved.

The goals started to flow after the restart though, Aduríz heading in a cross from Jurado with keeper Kameni misjudging his jump. And ten minutes later the striker headed his second of the night, again Jurado the provider from the corner flag. Ramis had to clear off the line with Moyà beaten after that, but a few minutes later Varela ran on Arango's pass to lob the ball over Kameni and wrap things up.
