Espanyol moved back up to the top half of the table after a narrow 1-0 victory over struggling Osasuna. New coach José Antonio Camacho is still trying to find the right combination for the Pamplona based side, and he gave Roberto a try out in goal. The ex Sporting keeper was in action early on to save from Nené, but he only had to stand and watch a few minutes later as Tamudo fired a spot kick wide after Nené was brought down by Roversio. It was the striker's eleventh miss from 39 penalty kicks, a record he would prefer not to have.

Luis García went close a couple of times after that, and at the other end sola and Roversio both failed to find the target. Tamudo hit the bar with an opportunist shot after the restart, but he finally got his reward when Miguel Flaño could only head Nené's long ball in to his path, allowing him to slide a shot wide of the keeper. The visitors brought on all his strike power after that, but they couldn't prevent a third defeat in a row under the new boss. The Navarrans remain firmly anchored to the bottom without a win to their name all season, and Camacho will have his work cut out to turn things around.
