Deportivo moved up to within a point of the European spots after a convincing 0-3 win over Betis. The Galicians had always done well in the Ruíz de Lopera stadium, with two wins and a draw in their last three visits. But the locals had the better of the first half, with Aranzubia having to save from sergio García and Rivas, and Sergio clearing off the line from Mehmet Aurelio with the keeper beaten.

Sergio García went close a couple of times after the interval, but Riki missed a good chance before getting on the end of Guardado's cross to head in on the far post. Lafita made it two with a spectacular shot after beating Rivas down the right wing soon afterwards, and things got worse for the locals when Sergio García was sent off by referee Delgado Ferreiro with a second booking for diving. And with three minutes to go Lafita wrapped things up with his second of the night, leaving the Andalusians back down in 16th spot, just a point above the drop zone.
