Sevilla got back to winning ways after a 1-0 win over local rivals Recreativo on Sunday evening. The Andalusians had lost four games in a row in all competitions, and they struggled to get going in the first half against a rugged Recre defence.

Kanouté had returned to the line-up though after missing the last few matches through injury, and he was to score the only goal of the game from a Jesús Navas cross midway through the second half. Navas had hit the post just before the goal, but Palop was called in to action soon afterwards to keep out a wide Javi Guerrero free kick.

Kanouté should have increased the lead from the penalty spot though after Morris tripped Diego Capel inside the area, but Diego Alves saved his kick. And the visitors came close to saving a point late on, Adrián Colunga shooting just wide a couple of times and having a penalty claim turned down. A win at last for Sevilla, but the fans were not too convinced that they are really back on track.
