Deportivo are up to sixth spot after beating Espanyol 1-0, their second victory in a row. The Galicians started well, Guardado, Verdú and Sergio all going close before Guardado scored what was to prove the winner, firing in a spectacular shot after Riki chested back Lafita's cross shortly before the break.

Espanyol's only chances in the first half came from Luis García and Tamudo, neither of which troubled Aranzubia, although the keeper did well to stop an angled shot from Sergio Sánchez after the restart.

Bodipo could have increased the lead after that though, one effort coming back off the post and another bringing a good save out of Kameni. Ex Espanyol coach Lotina had beaten his star pupil Tintin Márquez though, and his side are now back in the European spots.
