Fifth placed Sevilla made up ground on the top four with a 0-2 victory at Getafe on Sunday evening, and they are now level with Real Madrid and Valencia on points. Manolo Jiménez's side could have gone behind early on when Mosquera gave away a penalty on Gavilán, but Palop guessed correctly and saved Granero's spot kick. And a few minutes later Luis Fabiano put the visitors ahead, picking up Romaric's pass to beat Pato for his fourth goal in as many days.

Uche and Albín both headed wide either side of half time, and Rafa came close to equalising when he headed a Granero corner just past the post late on. But almost immediately Belenguer could only cut out Maresca's long pass as far as substitute De Mul, who ran on from the half way line to fire a shot under the keeper. Following on from the midweek cup defeat it was too much for some of the fans, who once again chanted for Víctor to go. Not a good time to be starting the run of matches against the big five!
