A tense local derby between Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna ended with with the home side running out 2-0 winners. Both teams started the match in the bottom two spots in the table, but the game was won by Fernando Llorente, who celebrated his call up for the national side by creating the first goal and then scoring the second himself.

With a quarter of an hour gone Llorente cut past two defenders and fired in a shot which Roberto blocked, but the ball fell to Garmendia who steered it back in to the net. And a few minutes later Llorente almost made it two with a header from a wide free kick which the keeper could only push on to the post.

Osasuna had clocked up their first victory of the season in the cup midweek, but they were yet to win in the league, and Pandiani put a couple of good chances wide after the restart. Camacho threw on all his fire power, but even that didn't work, and with a couple of minutes to go Llorente picked up Iraola's pass and turned past Cruchaga to wrap things up.
