Racing Santander moved up to the top half of the table after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Espanyol. Marcano put the Cantabrians ahead in the tenth minute after Kameni could only push out a Munitis free kick, and Oscar Serrano got the second later in the first half after the defence failed to clear Munitis's cross.

Jonathan Pereira had a penalty appeal a few minutes later, and Tchité had a goal ruled out for offside on the stroke of half time. The visitors came close to getting one back though with a triple chance late in the first half, Toño saving from Angel and Tamudo, and Lacruz having a third shot blocked by a defender. And soon after the restart Luis García went close with a free kick and Tamudo headed a Nené cross over the top.

With just under an hour gone though Racing went three up, Pereira picking up a Munitis free kick to leave Kameni for dead before scoring in to an empty net. Toño still had to be on his toes to keep out Tamudo and Angel, but Luccin almost got a fourth when Kameni tipped his long shot on to the post.

A good win for Racing though and a third defeat in a row for Espanyol, leaving the Catalans in sixteenth spot. The pressure on coach Tintin Márquez increases, and he needs a good run of results soon if he is to stay in his job.
