Second placed Villarreal drop further behind the leaders after they were held to a 3-3 draw by Getafe, although they have to be thankful for a point after trailing by three goals at the interval. Víctor Muñoz's side are having a good run against the top clubs, the only team to pick up a point against Barcelona in ten games and winners against Real Madrid last weekend. And they went ahead early on, Granero controlling Albín's headed pass on his chest before volleying past Diego López.

The locals came close to equalising when Godín headed a corner against the bar, but soon afterwards Gavilán fired a first time shot back past the keeper from Contra's long cross to make it two. And with half an hour on the clock the game seemed to be over when Casquero scored his side's third with an angled shot after Gavilán laid the ball in from the left.

Ten minutes in to the second half however Pires got one back with a lucky rebound after the defence had failed to clear a header from Altidore, and Villarreal were back in the match. It was not until seven minutes from the end though that Eguren flicked in the second after Godín headed back Ibagaza's free kick, but two minutes later Capdevila's cross fell kindly to Rossi, who drilled a shot past Abbondanzieri to equalise. There was still time for Rossi to fire another shot across goal, but it went wide of the mark. A game of two halves as they say, and both sides can be happy with their bit.
