Málaga ended 2008 in ninth spot after holding Racing Santander to a 1-1 draw in the Sardinero stadium on Sunday evening. Coltorti was replacing the injured Toño in the local goal, and he was in action early on to save from Duda. Serrano fired a long shot wide at the other end, but with seven minutes to go to the break the visitors took the lead when Baha turned Nacho's cross past the keeper.

Racing equalised midway through the second half, Valera heading a Munitis corner down in to the far corner of the net. And after that it was end to end stuff, Apoño firing a shot over and Tchité bringing another save out of Goitia. The game ended in a frantic finish, Duda flicking a shot against the post and Colsa hitting the bar, but in the end a draw was a fair result.
