Sevilla could have climbed back up to second spot had they been able to beat Osasuna in the next to last match on Sunday evening, but in the end they had to settle for fourth spot after drawing 1-1 with Osasuna. The Andalusians had the better chances in a dull first half, with Kanouté heading a Jesús Navas cross wide and Romaric firing a long shot wide of the post. But it was not until five minutes after the break that Navas beat Roberto with virtually the first shot on target in the match.

Navas fired another effort over the top and then brought a good save out of Roberto, with Masoud producing a good run before being closed down at the other end. It looked as if the locals were going to take the three points though until the first minute of injury time, when a long Roberto free kick was headed up as far as Masoud. The Iranian midfield struck his volley off target, but Pandiani stuck out a foot and poked it past Palop to equalise. There was still time for Squillaci to fire in a shot following a corner which Roberto deflected on to the bar, but Sevilla had dropped two points at home against the bottom club, and the fans were not happy.
