Recreativo moved out of the relegation spots for the first time in several weeks after beating Numancia 3-1. It was the first time the two teams had met at this level, and both were looking to win against a direct rival. The visitors had the first chance to go ahead when they were awarded a penalty after Bouzón pushed over Goiria, but Riesgo guessed correctly and saved Barkero's spot kick. And just two minutes they were punished for the mistake when Javi Fuego fired a shot past Juan Pablo following a short free kick.
Only twenty seconds after the restart Recre went two up, Camuñas beating the keeper with a shot on the turn after Colunga's deflected pass fell to him on the edge of the area. The visitors were given a second penalty when Poli tripped Del Pino in the area, but once again Riesgo saved Gorka Brit's spot kick. And a few minutes later Aitor ran on to a Camuñas pass to chip the keeper and make it three. Riesgo was finally beaten in injury time when Brit drove an angled shot in to the net, but by then it was all over.
