Sevilla are back up to second in the table after coming from a goal down to beat Deportivo 1-3. Chances were few and far between early on between two sides who met in the cup only three days ago, with Luis Fabiano and Bodipo both shooting wide. However with eight minutes to go to the break Bodipo beat Palop to give the Galicians the lead, and when Maresca was sent off for elbowing the striker in an off-the-ball incident a couple of minutes later it seemed the locals were on their way to a fifth straight home win.

Manolo Jiménez went for broke at half time though, taking off his right back to bring on Kanouté. Within six minutes the new man crossed in for Luis Fabiano to get ahead of Lopo and turn an impressive shot past Aranzubia, and a few minutes later he set up Renato for him to run in and head past the keeper. Depor tried to come back, with Palop making first class saves from Sergio and Lopo. But with the game in the third minute of injury time Navas broke away on a rapid counter-attack and crossed in for Capel to deliver the sucker-punch.
