Athletic Bilbao had other things on their minds for their visit to Almería, and Joaquín Caparrós made eight changes to his line-up in preparation for Wednesday's cup tie.

By half time they were two down though, Juanma Ortíz heading the ball back in to the net after a long shot from Iriney crashed back off the bar, and Kalu Uche beating Iraizoz with a shot on the turn after an overhead kick from Negredo was blocked.

Del Olmo made it 2-1 twenty minutes in to the second half after Toquero played on a long ball, but they were unable to prevent a first defeat in eight league games.
