Athletic Bilbao came back from behind to win 3-2 against Málaga, a result which took the Basque side safely up to mid-table. Despite the upcoming cup semi-final, Caparrós put out a strong side. The midweek efforts appeared to have taken their toll though when Albert Luque redirected a wayward shot from Duda past Iraizoz. However Ion Vélez tested Goitia at the other end and Llorente fired a good chance over, and a few minutes before half time Yeste equalised with a well placed shot from outside of the area after Llorente set him up.
Before the break though Duda hit the side netting, and with just over an hour gone Lolo restored the lead, heading Duda's free kick down past the keeper. At that point Málaga were in the Champions League spots, but Gabilondo headed a corner just wide, and Llorente levelled the scores once again with an impressive shot from outside of the area. And with four minutes to go Susaeta looped a header back past Goitia to ensure the three points for his side.
