Real Madrid made it six wins in a row after beating Numancia 0-2 on Saturday evening. The locals held on early on, and even had the better chances before the break, with Del Pino heading against the post and Brit hitting the side netting. Barkero had to clear a Gago header off the line though, and two minutes after the restart Raúl opened the scoring after Juan Pablo could only block Higuaín's shot. It was the team captain's 307th goal for his club in all competitions, equalling Alfredo Di Stéfano's all time record.

A few minutes later Robben made it two after a dazzling run from the right, and the game was virtually over. Goitia brought a good save out of Casillas and Dimas fired the rebound wide, and Aranda felt he should have had a penalty when Heinze brought him down in the area. But after Gago was sent off for a second bookable offence Juande Ramos pulled his men back, and they tied up another three points which keeps them hanging on to the shirt-tails of leaders Barcelona.
