Espanyol picked up another point away from home in a 1-1 draw at Getafe, although it was not enough to take them out of the relegation zone. New signing Iván Alonso put the Catalans ahead in only the seventh minute after intercepting a bad clearance from Jacobo, but a mistake by Jacobo's opposite number Cristian Alvarez later in the first half allowed Soldado to equalise.

Alvarez made up for his error after the restart, in particular keeping out efforts from Uche and Albín. Pochettino brought on De la Peña for his first game after another long injury lay off, and his first play was to set up Luis García. The striker shot straight at the keeper though, and soon afterwards the visitors were left with ten men when Torrejón was sent off for a hard tackle on Soldado.

Uche and Albín tried their luck after that, but Espanyol held fast for the draw. Thirteen games now though without a win, and with the big four coming up next it may be some time before that happens.
