Recreativo held Athletic Bilbao to a 1-1 draw in the San Mamés stadium, a point which keeps them four above the drop zone. The Andalusians probably deserved more, Aitor giving them the lead after Camuñas set him up with half an hour gone. And they were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty soon after the restart when Iraizoz brought down Colunga, referee Alvarez Izquierdo waving away their appeals.
The Basque team equalised a few minutes later when Toquero and Javi Martínez both got their heads to a Gabilondo free kick, the midfielder being awarded the goal as the last player to touch the ball. But Recre came close to restoring the lead when Colunga got free again only to be thwarted by the keeper. The last chance though fell to the locals, Ion Vélez shooting straight at Iago Bouzón with the goal at his mercy near the end. If only Llorente had not been injured....
