Barcelona were held to a 2-2 draw by Betis on Saturday evening, ending their run of ten wins in a row in the league. In the end they were grateful for a point though after going two down midway through the first half.

The first chance fell to the visitors, with Xavi shooting just wide. But a few minutes later Melli got past Busquets to head Emaná's corner past Valdés, and soon afterwards Mark González collected Sergio García's cross on the far post and drilled an angled shot past the keeper.

With half-time approaching though Barça were awarded a hotly disputed penalty when Iniesta fell under a challenge from Juande, and although Ricardo saved Eto'o's spot kick, the Cameroonian striker tucked the ball back in to the net on the follow up for his 100th goal in the league.

Both keepers were in action after the restart, Valdés keeping out Emaná and Oliveira and Ricardo producing a string of saves from Iniesta, Henry and Piqué. By then Messi was on the park as well, but it looked as if Guardiola's side were in for a first league defeat in 22 games until Eto'o picked up a Dani Alves cross and ran across three defenders to fire a shot back under the legs of one of them to save a point.
