Málaga missed out on a chance to make it back up to the UEFA Cup spots after a 0-2 defeat against local rivals Recreativo. The home side had the better of the opening minutes, but the turning point came when Lolo was sent off for elbowing Jesús Vázquez ten minutes before the break.

A few minutes after the restart Camuñas gave the visitors the lead after Adrián Colunga set him up, and Jesús Vázquez hit the post soon afterwards. There was no reaction from Málaga, and Colunga wrapped things up later on after Camuñas returned the favour, the striker ghosting past Goitia to keep his side out of the danger zone, for the time being at least.
