Valencia's season is going from bad to worse, and they lost more ground on the European spots after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Recreativo. With Villa out injured, Mata was playing centre forward, and he shot just wide early on. That was about it for the hosts in the first half, and Recre could have scored when Colunga hit the post shortly before half time.

The visitors did go ahead though a few minutes after the restart, Camuñas getting to Colunga's return pass before a couple of defenders to poke the ball past César. Valencia came close to equalising, Pablo Hernández hitting the bar with a long cross and Silva in particular failing to beat Riesgo a couple of times.

With fifteen minutes to go the Ches were left with ten men after Marchena picked up a second booking, but soon afterwards Pablo Hernández ran on to a return pass down the right of the area and chipped an angled shot over the head of the keeper to level the scores. Morientes and Colunga both wasted easy chances after that, but a draw was probably a fair result in the end.
