Real Madrid won 0-1 at Recreativo in the last match on Saturday evening to maintain the six point gap behind leaders Barcelona. Both keepers pulled off good saves early on, Riesgo keeping out Robben a couple of times and Casillas stopping Sisi and Aitor.

With a couple of minutes to go to half time Raúl fired a shot against the post, but four minutes after the restart Marcelo picked up a long pass from Gago to run on and beat Riesgo.

Madrid could have increased their lead after that, Riesgo making a string of saves from Huntelaar, Robben and Sergio Ramos. But a desperate Recre almost saved a point near the end when Camuñas tested Casillas for the last time.
