Villarreal's season is starting to fall apart, and after their mid-week elimination from the Champions League, they were held to a 0-0 draw at Valladolid on Sunday. The result left Pellegrini's side down in sixth spot having only picked up one point in three games, and they could miss out on the European places altogether if they don't improve.

The first real goal chances didn't come until early in the second half, Cani clearing off the line from Luis Prieto following a corner and Asenjo saving from Rossi. The visitors had the best chance to go ahead though on the hour mark when referee Pérez Burrull awarded them a penalty and sent off Iñaki Bea for a foul on Llorente, but Rossi drove the spot kick over the bar.
