Mallorca moved closer to safety after a 2-0 victory over Valladolid, and the Balearic Islanders moved to within a point of their opponents in the table. With the big four looming on the horizon Gregorio Manzano's side needed to reach the (relative) safety level of 40 points as soon as possible, and visiting keeper Asenjo had his work cut out to keep the scores level at the break. Goitom almost put the visitors ahead though when he headed against the crossbar, but Arango also hit the bar with a free kick before the half time whistle.

Manzano eventually turned to his "forgotten striker" Keita, and after missing a first chance he took his opportunity to latch on to Aduríz's headed pass to open the scoring. And with eight minutes to go Keita rounded off his best ever performance for the club when he connected with Castro's cross to wrap things up.
