Getafe ended the weekend just above the relegation spots thanks only to a superior goal average over Sporting Gijón after they lost 2-1 at Mallorca, a bad start for new coach Michel who took over after Víctor Muñoz was sacked midweek.

Jurado gave the Islanders an early lead after picking up a quickly taken Arango free kick, and Arango could have increased the lead when he hit the bar with another free kick a few minutes later.

Almost immediately after the restart the visitors equalised, David Navarro turning Gavilán's cross in to his own net under pressure from Albín. But Aduríz made sure of the three points after intercepting a poor goal kick by Stojkovic.
