Numancia are relegated back down to the second division after a 1-0 defeat at Getafe, who themselves are not yet clear of danger. Soldado went close a couple of times after the break before a good run by Contra set him up to score what was to prove the only goal.

But the local fans had to suffer to the end, Contra firing a late penalty against the post after Gorka Brit was sent off for blocking a free kick with his arm. Michel's side remain a point above the drop zone, and have to visit Racing Santander next weekend. A win there is the only way they can be 100% sure of staying up.
