Sporting Gijón stay out of the relegation zone, ahead of Osasuna on head-to-head goal average, after a brave 1-2 win at Valladolid. The locals had not won in nine games, but Goitom almost gave them the lead when he hit the bar early on. Camacho crashed home an impressive opener from outside of the area though on the stroke of half time to put the visitors ahead.

Jonathan Sesma levelled the scores with twenty minutes to go after Pedro León passed out wide, but Bilic headed in Maldonado's free kick a few minutes later to send the thousands of travelling fans wild.

The Asturians will stay up now if they beat the already relegated Recreativo in the last match, but Valladolid, despite their 42 points, could go down if they lose against relegation rivals Betis next weekend. Who would have thought that a couple of months ago when they were flying high in the upper reaches of the table?
