Atlético Madrid are not having a good start to the season, and there were protests from fans both before and during the game as they could only draw 1-1 with Racing Santander.

Both sides lost their opening games, and Geijo and Jurado both had chances before Jurado fired Atlético in to the lead following a corner with three minutes to go to half time.

Oscar Serrano made it all square two minutes later after Geijo set him up, but the visitors were up against it when they had Crespo sent off two minutes after the restart for a foul on Simao.

Forlán could have restored the lead for the home side after that, the Uruguayan striker brining a good save out of Toño and firing a long free kick against the post. But the Cantabrians held on to ensure themselves their first point of the season.
