2-1. 49. Cani. Drove shot in to net after Llorente headed back Capdevila cross.
3-1. 58. Javi Martínez. Far post header wide of keeper from Gabilondo corner.
3-2. 84. Cazorla. Struck free kick over defensive wall wide of Gorka Iraizoz.

Athletic Bilbao are keeping pace with the top two, and they moved up to third in the table after beating Villarreal 3-2. Fernando Llorente followed up his midweek Europa Cup double with two more in the first half, both after assists from David López. And he and Gabilondo could have added more had it not been for good saves by Diego López.

Cani latched on to Joseba Llorente's headed pass to drill one back soon after the break however, but Javi Martínez headed a third from Gabilondo's corner before Cazorla completed the scoring with a late free kick. That was not enough to prevent defeat though, and Villarreal are now only a point above the drop zone having yet to win their first match in the league.
