Xerez got their second point of the season after drawing 1-1 with neighbours Málaga. Armenteros scored Xerez's first ever goal in the top flight soon after the restart, the referee turning down appeals for what appeared to be an obvious hand ball, although it came 45 minutes too late to avoid a record as the longest period without a goal in the top flight.

The referee did rule out a strike from Edinho for hands a few minutes later, but Obinna thrashed home the equaliser late on to save a point for the visitors. It didn't however prevent them from ending the weekend down in the bottom three, and to make matters worse Obinna was sent off for a second bookable offence in injury time.
