Real Madrid kept up the pressure on leaders Barcelona after a 4-2 win over Almería. Sergio Ramos started things off with a header from Cristian Ronaldo's cross on the half hour mark, but slack defending allowed Soriano and Kalu Uche to turn the scoreline around in a three minute period in the second half.

Higuaín took advantage of a mistake from Acasiete to square the match once again though, and Madrid had a chance to restore the lead when Diego Alves brought down Cristiano Ronaldo in the area. The keeper saved Ronaldo's spot kick, but Benzema drove home the rebound, and Ronaldo made up for his miss with a fourth goal a couple of minutes later.

The ex Manchester United forward blotted his copybook though when he was sent off after picking up two bookings in four minutes, the first for taking his shirt off after his goal and the second for a retaliatory kick on a defender. He will now miss next weekend's game at Valencia.
