Second Division - Day 9

Real Sociedad returned to the top of the second division after beating Córdoba 1-0 on Saturday evening, Nsue heading the only goal from Estrada's cross early in the second half. Hércules are back up in to the top three pending Sunday's results after a 1-1 draw at Nàstic, Abraham Paz equalising after Morán had opened the scoring against his old side. And Betis are just a point outside of the promotion spots after a 0-2 win at Girona, Sergio García and Pavone getting the goals either side of half time, the first after rounding keeper Jorquera and the second with an angled shot.

Recreativo are level with their Andalusian neighbours after a 0-1 win at Murcia, Iago Bouzón scoring with five minutes to go to leave local coach José Miguel Campos on the verge of being sacked. The East coast side drop back in to the relegation spots below Huesca, who picked up a point in a 0-0 draw against Levante. Villarreal B move away from the danger zone though after a 3-1 victory over bottom club Castellón, Tomás, Gullón and Bordas getting the goals even though Palanca equalised for their neighbours momentarily with just under a quarter of an hour gone. Albacete are only a point above the drop zone though after a 4-0 defeat at Las Palmas, the visitors having Cabrero sent off before Lamas scored two either side of half time. Cejudo and Javi Guerro wrapped things up later on. (24.10.09)

Real Sociedad hold on to top spot after Cartagena could only draw 1-1 at Elche on Sunday, although Toché did put them in front before Molina equalised. Rayo Vallecano are now third after drawing 0-0 at struggling Celta earlier in the day, Numancia missing out on an opportunity to overtake them after a 1-1 draw against Salamanca. In the end though they were grateful for a point after Nano equalised Salva Sevilla's opener with only two minutes to go. Elsewhere Cádiz moved up safely to mid-table after a 2-1 win over Real Unión, Ogbeche heading the winner after Fran cortés had cancelled out Abasolo's opening goal. (25.10.09)
