Pichichis
Back from their Christmas hols, our Pichichi's were raring to go. Most of them were rested for the midweek cup matches, and with only eight first division teams surviving the second round many will not get a chance to add to their totals by that route. Rivaldo extended his lead with a goal in the league against Oviedo, with his clubmate Kluivert moving up to third after two in the same match and another as a late substitute in the cup. Raúl is creeping up the table after getting another against Alavés despite being reportedly off-form, and his teammate Guti came on as a substitute to get his eleventh of the season, one behind Raúl and the two Rayo Vallecano colleagues, Bolic and Michel. Dely Valdés can only score in the league now that his team is out of the cup, but he got two more this weekend to take his tally to nine, including a second goal which was the best of the day. Carew got his fourth league goal in a row to continue his Houdini act for Valencia, who hold on to top spot thanks largely to his goals and Cañizares goalkeeping. Jankauskas returns to our table after he marked Toshack's return with a goal, and Pandiani comes back in after getting a goal in the cup and the league this week. (07.01.01)
