Pichichis

The long season is finally over and the holidays begin. Only five games since our last report, the semi-finals and final of the Spanish cup, with twelve goals in all. Rivaldo was given leave by Brazil to play the first leg of the semi-final, but he missed a last minute penalty which would have put Barcelona back in the tie. He still finishes top of our table though, four goals ahead of Raúl who takes the league's Pichichi with 24 in that competition. Rivaldo's teammate Kluivert got his first goal since mid-April in the semi-final second leg match to give the Catalans hope, but Mostovoi equalised to put Celta through to their third ever final. The Russian scored again in the final, his thirteenth of the season, but this time he was on the losing side as Zaragoza came back with three goals. One of those, from the penalty spot, was from Jamelli, who had scored in the semi-final first leg against Atlético Madrid to put his side into the final. He finishes the season in eleventh place in our chart with 16 goals. (01.07.01)
