A
midweek round of games this week as part of a hectic calendar, with the early
start to next summer's World Cup meaning that fixtures have to be fitted in
where they can. Many of the top foreign strikers were missing on Wednesday,
with a full round of World Cup qualifying games for many countries. Spain have
already completed all their games, and Raúl, Tristán and all were
free to play. The only one of Camacho's boys to add to his total though was
Luis Enrique, who got two as Barça moved to the top of the league.
Saviola got the third, all in the first half against Mallorca. Real Madrid's
Zidane was not required to turn up for France until the weekend and he scored
for the fourth match in a row, although it didn't do much good in the end as
his team fell to another defeat. Juan Sánchez took advantage of the
absence of Carew and Aimar to get his third of the season, and two penalty
takers, Llorens and Olivera both moved into our charts this week on the same
total. (05.10.01) |
