If
last week was quiet on the goalscoring front, the last seven days were like a
cemetery, with the lowest tally of the season, eighteen, scored in the league's
ten games. That made it an average of less than two a game, and incredibly not
even one was scored by our top 20 strikers. Two forgotten men did get their
names on the scoresheet though, with Makaay getting a run-out for Deportivo and
scoring a hat-trick and Morientes netting both Real Madrid's goals after making
a comeback for Spain in their friendly against Mexico during the week. His
teammate Raúl got the only goal in that fixture, although it doesn't add
to his total here as it was not a club match. Makaay sneaks in to the bottom of
our table, as does Moisés, whose consolation goal against Real Madrid
was his fifth of the season. (19.11.01) |
