Pichichis

After a couple of quiet weeks the Pichichis are getting back in gear. Thirty goals in the league and ten from our five teams in Europe was the tally over the last seven days, with all the front runners getting their names on the scoresheets. The three-way tie at the top of the table continues, with Diego Tristán and Kluivert scoring in the Champions League and Raúl netting one against Rayo at the weekend: Rivaldo stays one behind after coming on as substitute to score against Bilbao, and a brace from Catanha takes him up in to fifth place in our table, and equal top scorer in the league together with Tristán (7 goals each). Deportivo showed the depth of their squad with Makaay adding a Champions League goal to his hat-trick last week, and when both he and Tristán were injured, Pandiani coming in to score for them in the league. Their rotation system is one of their great strengths, even though it let them down this weekend.

The star of the week though on the goalscoring front was Morientes. He started late this season due to injury, but has made up for it with seven goals in his last four matches, including two against Sparta Prague on Wednesday and two more at Rayo yesterday. With Figo, Zidane and Raúl all feeding him he has it easier than most, but you still have to stick them in the onion bag. Elsewhere Moisés took over from Olivera as Sevilla's top scorer with a penalty, Urzaiz set Bilbao on the road to their first victory in eight years at the Nou Camp and Yordi headed the opening goal for Zaragoza. Just outside of our chart, five more players join the group with five goals, including Zidane (Real Madrid), Edu and Jesuli (Celta), Víctor (Villarreal) and also Mallorca's Luque, who got two this weekend to sink Deportivo.
