Raúl took a quantum leap ahead of his rivals this
week with four goals between cup and league. He started off on Tuesday night
with a hat-trick to take Real Madrid through to the last eight of the copa del
rey against Nástic, a match in which Guti also got his fifth goal in the
competition. And then he headed his team into the lead in the Sunday night
league match at Mallorca before Luque levelled the scores later on. Including
the three goals he scored in the Spanish supercup at the start of the season,
Raúl is now on 19 goals, five clear of Diego Tristán. Diego
didn't score this week, but his teammate Makaay did to set Depor on their way
back to the top of the first division. Urzaiz didn't score either but he still
heads the league Pichichi chart with ten goals, one ahead of Raúl and
Catanha who both have nine. Catanha celebrated his winning goal at Sevilla by
putting on a father Christmas hat, the silliest celebration of the weekend.
Tamudo is now only a goal behind them with eight after scoring a brace to give
Espanyol their first win over neighbours Barcelona in the Montjuic stadium.
Elsewhere this week Real Sociedad put six past Valladolid, including two for
Tayfun, and five players joined the group on six goals: Etxeberria (Bilbao),
Eto'o (Mallorca), Jorge López and Víctor (Villarreal) and
Darío Silva (Málaga). (24.12.01) |
