Pichichis
A round of midweek league matches this week, with 24 goals scored in all. Diego Tristán started things off with a brace on Tuesday against local rivals Celta, knocking them off the top of the table. Even he thought he was offside for the fopener and didn't bother to celebrate at first. He moves on to ten in the league, and the race for the Pichichi is hotting up, with Raúl, Kluivert and Catanha on eleven and five players on ten, including Morientes. He scored in Real Madrid's match at Valladolid. although they lost in the end, thanks in part to a goal from one of their own on-loan players Fernando. Incidentally Raúl picked up an injury and could be out for a couple of weeks. Barcelona's trident all feature in the chart, and after Kluivert got the goals in the last match, the other two Rivaldo and Saviola got one each against Real Sociedad. Finally three more players joined the group on eight goals in all competitions, Jorge López and Víctor from Villarreal and Ezquerro from Athletic Bilbao. (08.02.02)
