Pichichis
With Raúl still out injured, Tristán, Morientes and Kluivert all closed the gap with our Pichichi. Tristán opened the scoring against Barcelona in the match of the weekend, but Kluivert scored the winner near the end with a diving header. In between Saviola got the best goal of the day, although all he had to do was guide it into the net after Rivaldo did the hard work with a piece of skill only he is capable of. Luis Enrique said he had only seen a play like that in Oliver and Benji cartoons. Morientes made it seven for the week with a second half goal at the San Mames stadium, although it was not enough to cancel out Bilbao's two first half goals, including a great shot from the man now known as "Fantás-Tiko". Earlier in the week Morientes had scored Spain's only goal in the friendly against Portugal to add to his record breaking five against Las Palmas the weekend before. Tamudo celebrated his return to the Spanish squad with his tenth of the season in the league, although he left the field injured in the second half and may miss a game or two. Finally a couple of Bolic's (goals we mean of course) put paid to Tenerife in Rayo's relegation battle at Vallecas. The Bosnian striker now has nine for the season, all in the league. (18.02.02)
