The
race for the league's Pichichi is hotting up, with three players now tied on 16
goals. Kluivert and Catanha both scored in Sunday's games to join Morientes at
the top, with Diego Tristán one behind on fifteen and Raúl on
fourteen. Catanha's goal was one of six that Celta put past Athletic Bilbao,
more like a tennis score than football, with six different names on the
scoresheet. Tristán and Morientes didn't score in the league this week,
but they did in the Champions League on Wednesday night in their respective
matches to keep up the pressure at the top. Tristán's team mate and
substitute Roy Makaay replaced the striker at the weekend and added another to
his total taking him on to eleven in all competitions, and Urzaiz proved that
his goal drought is over with his second in consecutive matches. Pity that his
opponents were Celta (go back to start...). The happiest man this weekend
though was Fernando Hierro, who celebrated his 34th birthday with the second
hat-trick of his career against Zaragoza, taking him past the 100 mark for Real
Madrid in the league. Not bad for a defender. (25.03.02) |
