Twenty-seven goals in all this week, but only one of them
from the three Spanish teams playing in the Champions League, and that from a
player who normally doesn't play, Real Madrid's Geremi. The man of the week
though was once again Diego Tristán, who scored his second hat-trick in
four games to move to the top both of our all-competition chart and the league
Pichichi table. It is hard to see anyone catching him on this form, although
Madrid's Morientes did get another at the weekend to take him one behind the
Depor striker on the league goals score. That takes him level with Catanha and
one ahead of Kluivert, who was banned this weekend and didn't play. His place
was taken though by young Saviola, who for some reason doesn't usually get
included in the starting line up for away games, probably because Rexach
doesn't want him to stay up too late. He proved to his manager that he is grown
up enough to be included in the future with two well taken goals to move
Barça back into the Champions League spots. Tamudo got his fourteenth of
the season, as did Fernando from the penalty spot, and Figo came back after a
two week lay off to score another penalty only two minutes after coming on the
field, his tenth goal of the season in all. (08.04.02) |
