Our first official Pichichi
table sees two Málaga players at the top. The early form of Dely
Valdés gave the Andalucian side their first ever European trophy, the
Intertoto cup (or at least one of the three up for grabs). More importantly
though, it means they will be competing in the UEFA cup this season. The star
though in their opening league game was Kiki Musampa, whose hat-trick gave his
team the first three points of the season after going two behind to new boys
Recreativo.
A goal in the Intertoto cup
added to the two he scored in the opening league match puts Villarreal's
Víctor into third place, and Víctor's namesake at Deportivo also
finds himself in the chart after scoring in both legs of the Spanish Super Cup
against Valencia.
As well as Víctor,
four other players scored twice for their sides in one of the highest scoring
opening days of the league in many years (no less than 34 goals in 10 games).
Barcelona's Luis Enrique is a regular in this section, but not Real Sociedad's
Nihat, nor even less so Rayo's Julio Alvarez or Athletic Bilbao's youngster
Gurpegui. All are early starters to take Diego Tristán's crown.
