There's no stopping Roy "the
boy" Makaay. Three more goals this week, one in Europe against Juventus and two
at the weekend against Mallorca for the Dutch striker. Unfortunately for Depor
they didn't win either game, both ending in 2-2 draws. One of the goalscorers
for Mallorca was none other than on-loan Walter Pandiani, who would not have
even been playing if someone in the back office had remembered to add the usual
clause in his loan contract prohibiting him from playing against his own team.
Pandiani is on fire at the moment though, and has scored eight goals in his
last five league games.
Real Sociedad are having an
unbelievable season, and they opened up a three point gap at the top thanks
this time to Kovacevic. His two goals sank Barcelona to their lowest league
position at this stage of the season in 31 years, and gave Real their first win
against them in five years in to the bargain. Kluivert was credited by the
referee with the opening goal, although his shot hit the post and was on its
way out when it hit Westerveld on the shoulder.
Other than that though it
was another low scoring week, with only seventeen in the nine league games
(Real Madrid v Sevilla was postponed to 2nd January). Goals in Europe from the
seven Spanish sides were also few and far between with just six between them,
although Saviola, Diego Tristán and Alfonso did all score their sixth of
the season in all competitions. (03.12.02) |
