Makaay was at it again this
week (scoring goals we mean), getting his first in the cup midweek and then
saving a point for Depor at the weekend with the equaliser against Osasuna.
Diego Tristán also scored in the midweek cup tie, a penalty this time,
but both he and Makaay were overshadowed by the man in exile, Walter Pandiani,
who virtually put his old club out of the cup with two more goals for Mallorca
in the Riazor stadium. Having scored there in the league earlier in the season,
the Depor management are wondering to themselves why they did not include their
usual clause forbidding an on-loan player to appear against them. Heads must
roll!
Real Madrid were the winners
this weekend, taking all three points against Betis whilst their nearest rivals
could do no better than draw. The scoresheet looked like the prize list at the
FIFA annual gala dinner, with Raúl, Figo (penalty), Zidane and Ronaldo
(missed penalty but scored anyway) all making their contributions. Only one new
name in our chart this week, a modest one alongside the above list of
superstars. Raúl Molina got Recreativo's second goal against Osasuna in
the cup to take them to the gates of a first ever cup final, and then scored
again at the weekend in the league draw against Valencia. He must be on
somebody's shopping list for next season. (11.02.03) |
