Ronaldo is back! The Real
Madrid striker silenced his critics this week with a hat-trick in the Champions
League quarter final against Manchester United, and left the Old Trafford pitch
to a standing ovation. With Raúl likely to be out some time after his
appendix operation, his return to form has come just at the right time. Ronaldo
moves up to second in our chart, ahead of Raúl himself and Dely
Valdés, who celebrated the fact that he was given a Spanish passport
last week with two goals against Racing at the weekend. Nihat got his fifth in
four games at the Nou Camp, although this time it was little use as Saviola and
then Kluivert had put Barcelona too far in front.
No less than five players
come back into our chart this week, starting with Eto'o who scored two goals to
sink Deportivo. Raúl Molina got the only penalty of the weekend to spark
off Recreativo's five goal haul against Villarreal, and Urzaiz scored one and
made one for Athletic Bilbao in their win against Betis. Fernando did get the
opening goal in that match to take him on to twelve as well, and Javi Guerrero
joins the gang after his opening goal for Racing. (29.04.03) |
