A record weekend in the
league, with no less than 43 goals scored in the ten games. For once Makaay
didn't get any of them, but unless Nihat or Ronaldo score six or more next
weekend the Dutch striker is assured of the Pichichi. In fact both the
aforementioned did get two on Sunday, and whereas the pair from the Real
Sociedad forward was not enough even to give his side a point, Ronaldo's
double, together with two more from Raúl, took Real Madrid into top spot
in the table.
There were also a record
number of penalties, nine in all, with Kluivert, Eto'o and Fernando all hitting
the net from the spot. Urzaiz scored a late winner against Deportivo to keep
his side on track for a place in Europe, but Rubén Navarro's two goals
at Osasuna were only enough to add a few thousand Euros to his possible
transfer price as he looks for a move which will keep him in the first
division. (17.06.03) |
