Real Madrid's double R,
Ronaldo and Raúl, were at it again this week. Ronaldo scored for the
fifth game in a row in the league, and Raúl got two in the cup and
another against Mallorca at the weekend to take him up into second place in the
chart. Between them they have scored 22 in the league, reportedly the highest
for any strike pairing in Europe this season, and the Spanish international now
has 163 league goals for Madrid, just one short of Hugo Sánchez's total.
Assuming he gets past Hugo's landmark, his last two targets to be their best
ever scorer are Santillana's 186 and Di Stefano's 261.
Goals galore this week
though from many of our Pichichi's. New to our chart is Celta's Jesuli, who
scored both in the cup and the league to further his claim for a place in the
Spanish squad, and David Villa also got a goal in each of the competitions. Big
name scorers in the cup as first division clubs put out strong sides to avoid
defeat in the tricky second round, with Ronaldinho and Salva scoring from the
penalty spot and Fernando Torres, and Milosevic also getting vital goals. The
stars were on form at the weekend too, with Luque, Correa, Mista, Makukula and
Sonny Anderson all adding to their tallies. (22.12.03) |
